Austrian pianist Dorothy Khadem-Missagh joins together with two members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestera – first violinist Ekaterina Frolova and principal solo-cellist Peter Somodari. Together they form the Vienna Vision Trio, founded in 2019 and dedicate themselves to the rich and versatile piano trio literature. They share the vision of continuing and cultivating the piano trio tradition with love and passion as well as curiosity.
Vision is the art of seeing the invisible, making the inaudible perceptible and embodies the transformation of dreams to reality. Visions enable us to open our minds to discover new and wondrous worlds.
The Vienna Vision Trio wishes to contribute to the process of an ever-advancing culture as a musical ambassador, sharing music with the world.

In seiner Debut-CD widmet sich das Trio Vision musikalisch dem Anfang. Mit den ersten Klaviertrios von L. v. Beethoven und J. Brahms präsentiert das Ensemble zwei bedeutende Werke des Genres. H. Gál stellt in der Einspielung ein Bindeglied dar und repräsentiert Wien als Ausgangspunkt, Katalysator und Drehscheibe musikalischer Entwicklungen und Gründungsort des Trio Vision mit der Pianistin Dorothy Khadem-Missagh und den beiden Wiener Philharmonikern Ekaterina Frolova und Solocellist Peter Somodari.

Russian violinist Ekaterina Frolova comes from a family of musicians from St. Petersburg. As international prize-winner she is both soloist and chamber musician as well as first violinist in the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. She regularly performs in concert halls such as the Gewandhaus Leipzig, Salle Gaveau Paris, Musikverein Vienna, Moskau Conservatory, Berlin Philharmonie and appeared at festivals such as the Kissinger Summer, the Gergiev festival in Rotterdam and the International Orpheum Music Festival in Zurich.
Ekaterina Frolova studied with Antonina Kazarina, the former concert-master of the Mariinski Theatre, at the S. Petersburg Conservatory. She continued her studies in Austria with Michael Frischenschlager at the University of Music and performing Arts Vienna and with Pavel Vernikov at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna. Ekaterina Frolova has been a member of the group of first-violins of the Viennese State Opera Orchestra since 2015. She plays an instrument by Nicolo Gagliano from 1755.
Dorothy Khadem-Missagh | piano
Dorothy Khadem-Missagh leads a promising and aspiring musical career. The young Austrian pianist has been awarded multiple prizes at international piano competitions, among them the International Beethoven Competition Bonn, where the renowned jury unanimously chose her for the "Beethoven-Haus" Prize and the chamber music prize.
From an early age she has been invited to perform at prestigious international concert venues and renowned festivals. In 2011 she gave her debut at the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, her debut at the Vienna Konzerthaus followed shortly thereafter. Concert tours lead her through Europe, Japan, China and Korea as well as Canada and the USA.
In the Beethoven Jubilee Year 2020, she founded her festival "Beethoven Frühling" ("Beethoven spring") which is held in places connected to Beethoven in Lower Austria and Vienna. Her solo-Album containing selected works by Ludwig van Beethoven as well as a world premiere recording of a piece by Karl Traugott Zeuner, has received multiple nominations for the Opus Klassik 2020.
Born into a family of musicians, Dorothy Khadem-Missagh continues the musical tradition in the fourth generation. She received her first lessons at the age of three. Already at the age of six she was admitted to the University of Music and performing Arts Vienna. Coming from Vienna, she has a special connection to the "Viennese sound", which she continues to cultivate as a Bösendorfer Artist.
Peter Somodari | violoncello
The solo cellist of the Vienna Philharmonic, chamber musician and soloist Peter Somodari grew up in Veszprém, where he began playing the cello at the age of four at the Leopold Auer Music School. He continued his studies at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest with Laszlo Mezö, Miklos Perényi, György Kurtàg and Ferenc Rados, and in Germany
with Gustav Rivinius.
Peter Somodari was the first solo cellist in the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. He was a member of the Amar Quartet and the Keller Quartet. As an internationally renown cellist he has collaborated with musicians such as Christian Tetzlaff, Leonidas Kavakos, Patricia Kopatschinskaja, Boris Pergamenschikov, Truls Mork, Alexej Lubimov, Jonatan Gilad and Marta Gulyas. Since 2012 he has been the principal solo cellist in the orchestra of the Vienna State Opera.
